Stratford
In Ann Arbor, Stratford demonstrates how creative problem-solving and craftsmanship can turn zoning challenges into a breathtaking design. With the property classified as having three front yards, setback restrictions were unusually strict. To accommodate, we designed a pool that curves gracefully around one corner of the home—an arched pool stretching 66 feet along its outer edge. The pool’s striking shape isn’t its only unique feature. A raised sun shelf is elevated above the pool with a spillover and masonry wall with three water scuppers, creating a tranquil focal point.
The patio is crafted from Select Bluestone pavers, each hand-picked for its vibrant blue tones. Finished with a thermal surface for slip resistance, the pavers were wet laid over a crack-resistant membrane, ensuring strength and longevity. For shade and greenery, we brought in Armstrong Maples (4" caliper, 23 feet tall), planted in beds supported by a masonry retaining wall with a 42" footing. The layered landscaping is softened with hydrangea plantings, bringing seasonal color and elegance.
A raised deck extends from the home, offering an elevated dining area and a pre-fabricated hot tub overlooking the pool. This secondary lounge zone enhances the property’s functionality, creating multiple vantage points for entertaining and relaxation.
